Vestments 1

On a trip to Austin for a gallery show I was participating in, I spent time in a local art museum and was taken by 17th century oil portraits of Latin figures. Their robes and fabrics were rich and beautifully rendered. I photographed the robes up close, printed  and arranged them with existing mechanical images I've collected to create this series. To me, disconnected elements paired together out of their original context create new forms of expression. Collage and pencil color on watercolor paper, framed. 13x18.25"
