Texas Family Diptych

A couple approached me to create artwork that would tell the story of their extended family, including multiple generations of both sides. They provided A LOT of images, documents, etc. of their families, as well as written accounts of their lives. Over time as I worked on what became a diptych, I felt like I was getting to know these families through their images and stories, warts and all. I traveled through time to "experience" each story.
 
Real life cowboys, a professional photographer, the inability to have children, a lifelong dream of seeing a live NASCAR race, death, divorce, military service... It was a privilege to work on this.
 
Each piece is 4x3' collage, acrylic and airbrush on canvas.
